Sorry folks, due to the extreme weather, unfortunately, TODAY’S FESTIVAL HAS BEEN CANCELED. Good news dining and shopping deals are still valid today – October 13th, 2018. Feel free to pop into our great stores and restaurants. Stay tuned for more exciting events to come!
To celebrate ten years in the Allen community, The Village at Allen presents the Down Home Festival on October 13 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The free, family-friendly event will take place in The Grove, the shopping center’s outdoor pavilion.
The Down Home Festival will include site-wide dining and shopping deals, live music, a local vendor market, kids crafts and games, and contests provided by Village at Allen retailers and restaurants. Featured main stage entertainment includes 2018 American Idol finalist and Collin County native, Ron Bultongez, and Good N Gone, a Texas country band comprised of local police and firefighters.
“We just want to thank the Allen community for allowing us to serve them for ten great years,” said Christina Eschbacher, Marketing Manager at The Village at Allen. “This event is our way to give back to the people who make this city one of the best places to work and live in America.”
Kicking off the day at 10:30 AM at Kelly’s at The Village, will be The Grand Dash Urban Adventure Race hosted by Allen-Fairview Chamber of Commerce. Think ‘The Amazing Race’, but with an Urban feel. Your team will decode clues, solve puzzles, and follow trails that will lead you around The Village at Allen and straight to the finish line. While the details are kept secret until the morning of the race, we can tell you the contestants will average 3-5 miles on foot and overall winning times range from 1:30 to 2 hours. Once you’ve finished the race, kick back at the after party and awards presentation and watch live music on the main stage at The Grove! Follow the link to learn more about The Grand Dash.
During the festival, attendees can participate in Experian’s 2nd Annual Zombie Walk, benefitting the Scottish Rite Hospital. The Experian Zombie Walk will include a thrilling one-mile journey with the walking dead, with toys and candy for the kids, a brain-eating contest with Bliss Cupcakes & Confections, and a costume contest where our winners will win a supernatural surprise. This is a free event; however, we will be collecting new toys on site and accepting donations for Scottish Rite for Children. Local partners like Allen Economic Development, the Allen Americans, Cabela’s, and many more will also host festival activities.
“The Allen Fairview Chamber is excited to partner with the Village at Allen to hold ‘The Grand Dash Urban Adventure Race’ at the Down Home Festival,” said Sharon Mayer, CEO for the Chamber. “Teams will decode clues, solve puzzles, and follow trails that lead them around the shopping center. We think this is a great venue and being part of the Down Home Festival will only enhance our Grand Dash!”
